Hello!
My name is Samantha Stemm and I am thrilled to New Castle Elementary's 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year!
I just recently moved to the Delaware area about five years ago! I grew up in a small town in New York on Long Island. Following graduation from Sayville High School, I enrolled in Oneonta State University for one year then transferred to St. Joseph’s College where I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Education. After moving to Delaware, I graduated from Wilmington University with my Masters degree in Literacy and ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 2017. My previous teaching experience includes 6 years of teaching in 3rd-5th grade special education, kindergarten and first grade, but now I am thrilled to be your child’s ESL teacher! Learning a second language has always been a goal of mine so I commend you on encouraging your child to continue learning a new language!
I truly love being a teacher! I pride myself on being a nurturing, patient and energetic person which definitely comes in handy while in the classroom! I am extremely excited to see the tremendous growth that will occur in your child academically, socially, and emotionally this year.
Additionally, here are some of my favorites:
Color: lime green
Flower: Gerber Daisy
Season: Summer
Sweet Treat: Ice Cream!
Salty Snack: Pretzels
Candy: Tootsie Rolls, YUM!
Animals: Sharks
School Subject: Reading & Writing
Children's Book: Elmer
Hobbies: Spending time with family & friends, reading (of course) and exercising!
